Nine Free Tools for Web Developers

Filezilla:

FileZilla is a cross-platform graphical FTP, FTPS and SFTP client a lot of features, supporting Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and more.

KompoZer is an open source WYSIWYG HTML and CSS editor based on the now-discontinued Nvu editor.

Pixie:

Pixie is a utility made especially for webmasters and designers. It is a color picker with few extra goodies.

Run it, simply point to a color and it will tell you the hex, RGB, HTML, CMYK and HSV values of that color. You can then use these values to reproduce the selected color in your favorite programs.

PSPad editor is a freeware text editor and source editor intended for use by programmers. Great for editing PHP, CSS, HTML and just about any other text based file.

Notepad++ is a free code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. Running in the MS Windows environment.

Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free software raster graphics editor. It’s primarily use is for image retouching and editing.

Favicon editor:

Adsen FavIcon is a simple favicon editor that lets people make a favicon ico for their website, which shows up in IE’s favorites. It can use either bmp or jpg files, and will convert them to ico format using the size and color quality you choose.

XAMPP is a free and open source cross-platform web server package, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.
